Monument Wealth Recognized as Community Leader Through CARE Award

For nearly 30 years, Northern Virginia Family Service (NVFS) has recognized outstanding companies making the Northern Virginia region a better place for everyone to work, live and play. The CARE Awards endorse community-focused companies that exemplify distinguished community engagement, employee engagement, company philosophy, and culture.

For the fifth year, Monument Wealth Management celebrates as the recipient of the CARE Award!

Why is the CARE Award Significant to Us?

CARE Award

The CARE Award is recognized as an effective tool for increasing employee engagement, productivity, and workplace wellbeing. You can count on a CARE Award winner to demonstrate exceptional professional standards and to not just adopt but be on the leading forefront of industry best practices. CAREing companies are committed to employee satisfaction and a strong connection to the community.

At the core of Monument Wealth, we emulate the very monuments which are part of our landscape. Monuments mark pivotal points in history and celebrate people, moments, achievements, and victories. As a DC-area firm, we pride ourselves on building something not just sizable but significant, memorable, and worthy—and we can count on NVFS’s CARE Awards to always challenge us to be our best.

Our CAREing Efforts

Staying Connected and Informed During the Global Pandemic

At the onset of the pandemic in 2020, our Team established creative programs to better support our employees and community. We published blog posts and communications full of our unfiltered opinion and advice almost every day during the market crash to help our clients and the community remain clear-headed and as calm as possible. We also launched our new Off the Wall Podcast and our Resource Center on our website to help keep everyone informed. We implemented a morning video huddle every day to make sure team members felt connected and had plenty of (virtual) face-to-face communication, held two virtual retreats for our Team, sent care packages and birthday treats to employees’ homes, and had virtual lunches and happy hours. As for clients, we transitioned to 100% video calls and meetings, which has worked well and we will continue to offer moving forward.

Supporting Our Community

While we put our group community services outings on hold, various team members continued their volunteer work: Dave served on 3 non-profit Boards, Brittany stepped up as President of her volunteer group supporting local refugees and led their 2021 rebrand and relaunch, Cecelia continued her volunteer work with her church, and more.

As the crisis in Afghanistan unfolded Monument set up a matching donation for employees who wanted to give to International Rescue Committee’s local resettlement efforts, and Dave helped the Community Foundation for Northern Virginia establish their Afghan Relief and Resettlement Fund for Northern Virginia.

As you may know, we’ve collaborated with many different non-profit organizations in our area over the years. One of those partners is the Ronald McDonald House. We had the opportunity for the third year in a row to sponsor and participate in their Red Shoe 5k fundraiser, and our Team has cooked meals for the residents of Ronald McDonald House in the past.

“Whether participating in-person or remote, there’s a strong sense of community around the Red Shoe 5k—and community service in general—that brings us together in difficult times. With many people working from home, we need that now more than ever.” – Brittany Dewberry, Director of Brand and Marketing

Shaping the Future

As many other companies put their internship programs on hold, we decided to run our first 100% virtual internship and externship. We’ve partnered with a local non-profit, Campagna Center, to provide “Building Better Futures” externships to high school students with challenging circumstances and have launched our Small Business Internship with the goal of creating more diversity in the wealth management industry. We had the pleasure of working with and mentoring four interns and three externs in 2021 alone.

Monument Wealth is proud to be honored as a great place to work through Northern Virginia Family Service’s CARE Awards, and we appreciate being able to exchange ideas and practices with other CAREing companies!

All applicants are required to complete the application and an employee survey. A site visit (conducted virtually) may be required pending the results of the application and survey. The survey must be distributed to all of the DC Metro-based employees, and a 30 percent response rate is required to remain in consideration.
