Dean J. Catino, CFP®, CPWA®

President & Chief Operating Officer

Pretty much everything in Dean’s life revolves around his family and friends. Dean married his high school sweetheart, Sheila, and they have three accomplished daughters that he is immensely proud of. For fun, Dean enjoys the serenity of fly fishing and the thrill of crushing the “cyber competition” on his Peloton bike. Of course, scoring better than Dave on the golf course always makes his day!

When Dean graduated from Seton Hall University with an accounting degree, there was a lot of excitement around the bull market at that time. It was very intriguing to him, and he wanted to be a part of it. A large Wall Street firm advised Dean to first gain sales experience if he wanted to truly thrive in the industry. So, Dean began a successful sales management career at a large pharmaceutical company before pivoting to the financial services industry.

Working at a Wall Street firm opened Dean’s eyes to see that clients don’t value and need sales experience, they value competence and independent advice…That’s why he went on to become a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER™ and Certified Private Wealth Advisor, and to co-found Monument Wealth Management.

Being a Financial Advisor should never be about selling; it’s about always acting in the best interest of your client. Being a true fiduciary is predicated on understanding “What’s the Money For” rather than selling the investment of the day. This is a core principle of Monument Wealth Management.

Monument’s culture is a great inspiration for Dean, as he finds it fun to be part of a Team that is innovative and collaborative. That being said, Dean enjoys interacting with our clients, providing them not just good advice, but clarity and peace of mind. Learning what our clients are passionate about, why they want to invest and helping them navigate the financial world are some reasons why Dean believes in our work. As Dean says, “To put it simply, we are a Team of extraordinary people that provide great advice and solve problems…and I love that.”
