David B. Armstrong Serves as Social Media Panelist

Monument Wealth Management’s David B. Armstrong Serves as Social Media Panelist at SIFMA and Money Management Institute Events

WASHINGTON, March 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ — Monument Wealth Management, an independent investment management and private wealth planning firm, announced that David B. Armstrong, one of its Managing Directors, recently served as a panelist at the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA) Social Media Seminar and the Money Management Institute (MMI) Sales and Marketing Leadership Summit.

Both the SIFMA Social Media Seminar, held in New York City on February 3, and the MMI Sales and Marketing Leadership Summit, held in Miami, Florida on February 9 and 10, brought together top executives from broker-dealers, insurance firms and asset managers, as well as a select group of top wealth managers.

Mr. Armstrong presented wealth manager perspectives on the SIFMA panel discussion “How Early Users of Social Media Are Leveraging The Technology for Client Service and Outreach,” and on the MMI panel discussion “The Future Impact of Social Media.”

Summarizing his comments at these events, David B. Armstrong said, “Social media has become a marketing and communications vehicle for wealth managers that cannot be ignored.  More and more, people are leveraging social media vehicles to answer questions, find solutions to problems and educate themselves on topics of interest.  To the extent that a wealth management practice can provide insightful or educational content through social media, they will gain a level of credibility and trust that is light years ahead of other practices not engaged in the digital space.”

Mr. Armstrong concluded, “Importantly, social media is not a stand-alone business tool for the wealth manager.  In order to be successful, a social media strategy and its associated tools must be integrated into a complete and efficient digital marketing plan.  In turn, that digital marketing plan must be completely integrated into an overall marketing strategy that embraces the use of traditional marketing tactics as well.  At the same time, it is absolutely essential that regulators and broker-dealers fully embrace social media at some point and determine how to better encompass this technology within the compliance space.”
